How to Nominate

When: Upon arrival — visit the Nomination Tent at the track entry.
Cost: Free – there is no entry fee.
Judging: Four respected members of the local community will judge nominations throughout the day.

Between Race 1 and Race 2 – Ladies Contemporary Style and Gents
Between Race 2 and Race 3 – Ladies Classic Style and Milline
Between Race 3 and Race 4 – Families and Couples

Ladies – Contemporary Style

Palette: Black and white with a single accent hue inspired by the sea — coral, pearl or driftwood tones.
Cuts: Modern silhouettes, asymmetric hemlines or minimalist co-ords.
Textures: Satin sheens, mesh overlays or sculptural tailoring.
Accessories: Bold yet balanced — statement earrings, geometric clutches and refined millinery.
Footwear: Strappy heels or pointed mules, elegant and modern.

Gents

Not Eligible for Judging

To uphold the prestige of Derby by the Coast, entries may be excluded for the following:

Off-theme colours
Bright colours, florals, prints, or neons outside the monochrome brief.
Casual attire.
Denim, shorts, t-shirts, casual sundresses, sneakers, or sandals.
Inappropriate lengths or cuts.
Garments too short, sheer without lining, or overly revealing.
Over-accessorising.
Excess jewellery, clashing patterns, or oversized bags.
Poor fit or presentation.
Ill-fitting suits, wrinkled garments, or sagging shapes.
Unpolished footwear.
Scuffed or casual shoes, thongs, or uncomfortable heels affecting posture.
Millinery missteps.
Overly large, unstable, or off-theme headpieces.
Overly trendy or costume-like looks
Outfits that suit a nightclub more than a race day.
Lack of grooming.
Unkempt hair, chipped nails, heavy makeup, or untidy presentation.
